What Common Law Admission Test?

Common Law Admission Test or CLAT is a centralized national examination for admission into twenty-eight National Law Schools in India. It has been used by many top ranking law universities in India including IIT JEE, IIM Bangalore, and LSAT Delhi. Almost all top ranking private and self-funded law schools in India as well also use these tests for online law school admissions in India. The test is conducted after thorough examination of the candidates by the admission authorities at the schools. The test is divided in three parts, which are written as per section of the curriculum.

There is nothing special about this exam and it does not carry any weightage in selection of seats for National Law School. Many times a candidate who does not clear the initial interview may win over one who does not have a good percentile in the TOEFL or GMAT tests. The test scores help the admission authorities in the selection of the students. For selecting a candidate for the exam, the process is followed which is: the candidate with the highest percentile for each section is chosen; he is sent the questions; he has to submit answer sheets for the questions in duplicate; and the next round of question goes to the person with the lowest percentile. If a candidate manages to clear both rounds in singleini, he gets the seat. Though this is not the common practice, but it happens often.

Now a days there are many online law school admission tutors available who can guide students in answering the exam. Though free of cost, students have to pay a little fee to these tutoring agencies. Students who successfully complete the exam and get admission guarantee a place in their university of choice. In case of online test, a student is allowed to take the exam once for multiple choice test and then sit for the remaining exams. Many top rated law universities of India to participate in International Law Studies Examinations or ILEs, which makes the online study an excellent option.
